The problem this solves
Hand-assembled infrastructure resists review, resists reproduction and cannot be altered safely. We express the cloud footprint as infrastructure defined as code: production separated from non-production accounts, a network layout that keeps private subnets private, access roles attached to workloads instead of people, and remote state in object storage with a locking table. Modules are written to be reused, and a plan-and-apply workflow turns each change into a pull request somebody reviews.
